Star corkage charges at the reception venue
Hi there I have provisionally booked my reception! very exciting so we have been having a rough look at prices with meals etc included.

The reception venue charge £7.50 for corkage per bottle if you bring your own wine and I think this will be cheaper than buying the wine from the venue as a bottle starts are £17.

I think it would be a good idea to buy the wine in bulk from else where but my husband to be thinks this is too much hassle.

Will it be too much hassle, I know it will be an extra thing to organise but surely take a few bottles of wine to the reception venue a few days before the wedding wouldn't be that much of a problem.

What does everyone else think? - I've added a poll to make it nice and easy to give your answer, but feel free to elaborate.

Hi Abby,

I paid for my wine and paid the hotel's corkage fees, it did save us lots of money as we got a 70% discount on the wine as we shopped around. Take a look around on the internet before you make a final decision and decide whether the hassle of getting the wine (it's not that much to be honest) is worth the saving in money.

I'm the kind of bride who likes everything sorted for her so I'd take the easiest option, pay the hotel to sort out the wine for you. It's much easier that way and one less thing for you to stess out about. Smile

I was going to buy my own wine and pay for the corkage fees but a friend of mine that this for her wedding and had a nightmare. They completely underestimated the amount of bottles they needed for the reception and ran out of wine, so had to pay for the wedding venues wine instead. Since they hadn't arrange this before the wedding they were charged really high prices.

I don't want to make the same mistake so I'm paying for the hotels drink package to be on the safe side.

It's probably more hassle than it's worth, pay for the drinks package at the wedding venue, it will save you a lot of stress!!
